The Balustrade style handrail shown in our brochure is an excellent and versatile choice for any Verandah. It is made completely of dressed kiln dried; stress graded treated pine which is designed to last for decades.

Fancy flower pieces can be added to this Handrail at an additional cost.

This balustrade style of handrail also conforms legally with local councils requirements that a gap of no more than 120mm exist in the handrail for child safety reasons.

Timber sizes are as follows top & bottom rail 90mm x 45mm Balusters 70mm x 20mm A balustrade or barrier is required when the floor Level is more than 1.0m above the surface below.

We can also provide Stainless Steel Wire Fencing and Aluminium or Powder Coated Steel Fencing both of which will not require painting.

The height of the handrail or barrier must be a minimum of 1.0m above the floor as required in BCA Volume 2 - Housing Provisions, Part 3.9.2.

To minimise the risk of injury, owners and occupiers must regularly check their balustrade. Personal injury, particularly of children, poses a serious threat unless balustrade design, maintenance, stability and placement of adjacent structures are consistently monitored. Injuries and death have involved children climbing adjacent structures (such as balcony furniture or air conditioning equipment) to gain access to the railing. Owners and occupiers need to be aware of potential dangers posed by the placement of furniture, pot plants and equipment inrelation to balustrades. Children should be supervised at all times.
